Illmatic is a fantastic album and this documentary supports the albumvery well, 20 years on it is still, in my eyes at least, one of thebest Hip Hop albums ever created. If this is your genre then it is certainlyworth a watch but as a documentary it isn't that impressive.

Nas - time is Illmatic is an entertaining watch and offers aglimpse into Nas's childhood and early music career but that is allthis documentary offers. It is thefocal point but it does often branch off from this and takes you backinto the childhood of Nas and explains how he got into Music. This documentary is not just about that album specifically. If you area fan of Hip Hop then there is an extremely good chance that you seeIllmatic as a standout album. I guess those with no interest or knowledge of Nas or his music willnot have too much to hook onto, but for even the casual viewer such asmyself, this nor only captures why Illmatic was important, but alsogives a good base of background to the man, his achievement, and hisbackground all of which is pretty interesting and very well presentedhere. At first there is a fairlytypical spread of talking heads saying positive things, but after thisthe film does focus on Nas and in particular Jungle there is a certainamount of guardedness about them perhaps, but they are also open abouttheir past, and willing to be affected by what was and what could havebeen no tears or great emotion, but you do get the feeling that theyare being themselves rather than carefully marketed images, The film istechnically well put together, with a good mix of photographs, archivefootage, and current material, and although it is short at only 70- oddminutes, it does feel like it gets a lot in there in that time. The film is not the most insightful, but it is certainly a lot deeper than I had expected, and there aremoments where you can see the impact on Nas and his family, even tolook back on events is tough on them. I am a casual fan ofhip-hop, but generally do not know much more beyond the music, so forme it was interesting to spend time with Nas' brother and father, tounderstand more about the environment they grew up in, and the thingsthey had to process and deal with. What makes the film of value then is thatit takes its time to wander into the past. The nature of the film will mean that, like me, you probably will syncIllmatic to your ipod, or put on the CD as the credits are stillrolling, because there is plenty of the music and contributions to saywhat an influence it was, but I think for most viewers all of this willbe stuff they already knew. Outsideof a few aspects which can be forgiven, what we actually get is a filmthat is surprisingly close to Nas and his family, and looks at the rootto that album, rather than specifically celebrating the album itself. It was a very pleasantsurprise then to find that it was really nothing of the sort. Twenty years after its release, Illmatic has become a hip-hop benchmark that encapsulates the socio-political outlook, enduring spirit, and collective angst of a generation of young black men searching for their voice in America. Time Is Illmatic is a feature length documentary film that delves deep into the making of Nas' 1994 debut album, Illmatic, and the social conditions that influenced its creation. It Ain't Hard to Tell The Laidback Remix.

There are some particularly poignant moments herefrom Nas's personal experiences with the loss of friends or anothermoment where we realise that those who grew up around Nas are far lessfortunate than him, a photo showing faces of young man that have mostlywallowed in a life of crime and violence instead of betteringthemselves to a life more abundant. ※ Download: ?dl&keyword=nas+illmatic+free+torrent+download&source=
